Colour INKspiration 90 #CI90

Welcome to Colour Inkspiration!

What is Colour INKspiraton? – a Facebook based bi-monthly colour challenge.
Anyone with Facebook can join in.  You don’t need a blog and you don’t need to be a demonstrator.
I have joined in these challenges and love them as Colour challenges for me are actually a real challenge.
Click here to join the Facebook page which now has over 2200 members and see what it’s all about.

Here’s some of the basic details about the challenge –
The Colour INKspiration Crew! consists of a team of talented Aussie and NZ Stampin’ Up! ® Demonstrators that create projects based on Pinterest inspired colour swatches.
Every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 7 pm (AEDT), a new colour swatch will be uploaded to the Facebook Colour INKspiration Group and the Colour INKspiration Crew will get the ball rolling by providing inspiration for each challenge with a post on their blogs.
Then you have a 12 day period to upload your own creations using the colours provided.
If you have a blog, feel free to link back to it, but all entries will be via Facebook.  The design team will select 5 projects to be ‘design team picks’ and then the Facebook group will select an overall winner from this shortlist.

Such a pretty colour combo this fortnight.

I decided to use the picture as inspiration as well so I used my coming home bundle.

The background is brayered with the Petal Pink, Pool Party and Pretty Peacock.
My piece of neutral cardstock that I used was Crumb Cake for the ground and the colouring of house was with Stampin' Blends.

  • Stamps: Coming Home & Itty Bitty Christmas
  • Ink: Memento, Pretty Peacock, Petal Pink, Coastal Cabana and Pool Party
  • Card: Shimmery White, Whisper White, Crumb Cake & Pretty Peacock
  • Tools: Home Together Dies and Subtle Embossing Folder with a Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine

CAS(E) this Sketch #CTS399

 CAS(E) this Sketch.

What a great sketch for my creation this week.
One of my class girls asked if we could do a male themed card this week for class so I grabbed my Beautiful World set (which actually hadn't been inked!) and made this card.

I really love all the textures in this card.
The background was made with the globes stamp from the set, stamped tone on tone with the Early Espresson randomly over the background. The cream piece is just embossed with the Old World Paper embossing folder and the cinnamon cider strip embossed with a die from the world map dies and finished off with a little sponge daubing around the edges.
A few dimensionals to pop up the globe and sentiment and its finished.

  • Stampset: Beautiful World and Itty Bitty Birthdays
  • Ink: Early Espresso and Cinnamon Cider
  • Card: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Cinnamon Cider, Balmy Blue & Brass Foil
  • Tools: World Map Dies as well as Old World Paper Embossing folder with a Stamp & Emboss Machine
  • Embellishments: Dimensionals

Freshly Made Sketches #FMS462 and Colour Throwdown #CTD620

This week over at Freshly Made Sketches is a funky sketch.

and a colour challenge over at

To me these colours are close to being Rich Razzleberry, Balmy Blue and Sahara Sand so here is the card that I made with the two combined challenges.

I still had my floating and Fluttering Stampset on my craft table so I decided to use it again this week on this challenge.

Using a textured background embossing folder it just adds that little bit more to the card rather than a flat looking background.

With a sponge dauber I lightly rubbed the Rich Razzleberry ink around the three squares to define them from each other.

    • Stampset: Floating and Fluttering and Itty Bitty Greetings
    • Ink: Memento & Rich Razzleberry
    • Card: Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry and Sahara Sand
    • Tools: Fluttering and Ornate Frames Dies as well as Painted Texture & Subtle Embossing folders with a Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine & Light and Dark Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends and a sponge dauber
    • Embellishments:  Dimensionals & Wink of Stella

CAS Colours and Sketches 397 & TGIF #TGIF290

CAS Colours and Sketches has a beautiful colour combo this week.

and teamed up with the gorgeous sketch from TGIF Challenges

I then combined the two to come up with this card.

The combination of the Blackberry light and dark Stampin' Blends along with the Purple Posy light and dark Stampin' Blends, blended together so nicely on these cute little Butterflies that are coming very soon!

I went away from the oval and used a heart instead to be a little different but still keeping within the challenge guidelines. I love how you can combine new and old products together to still get an amazing but still fairly simple project.

      • Stampset: Floating and Fluttering and Art Gallery
      • Ink: Memento & Versamark
      • Card: Whisper White, Purple Posy, Blackberry Bliss and Basic Grey
      • Tools: Potted Succulents, Stitched Hearts & Fluttering Dies as well as Brick and Mortar Embossing folder with a Stamp & Emboss Machine, White Embossing Powder with a Heat Tool, Blackberry Bliss, Purple Posy and Smokey Slate Stampin' Blends
      • Embellishments: Dimensionals, Iridescent Pearls & Wink of Stella

        Fab Friday 201 #FABFRI201

I haven't done a  Fab Friday Challenge for a little while so I went and had a look to see what they had up for the week.

This week is a great sketch.

I like the layers in this sketch.

I have had a little box of goodies to play with arrive this week. I haven't really felt like crafting but I couldn't resist this gorgeous set coming in the new mini.

So so pretty and such a great layout to utilize the different elements in this suite.
The small piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock is embossed with Gold Powder and I have some Gold Leaf Foil in my stash so I used this on the petals of the flowers. The smallest flower in the stampset was repeatedly stamped over the background of the card in tone on tone with the Night of Navy for a bit more depth.

The texture of the embossing folder is on the Pool Party piece of cardstock and the background DSP looks like it has it's own texture but it is just the cardstock.

        • Stampset: Art Gallery (coming soon)
        • Ink: Flirty Flamingo, Night of Navy and Versamark
        • Card: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Flirty Flamingo, Pool Party and Fine Art Floral DSP (coming soon)
        • Tools: Floral Gallery Dies and Painted Texture Embossing Folder (coming soon) with a Stampin' Cut N Emboss Machine, Gold Embossing Powder, Gold leaf Foiling (coming soon) , Heat and Stick with a heat tool, Old Olive and Pool Party Stampin' Write markers.
        • Embellishments:  Dimensionals and Gold Faceted Gems

Global Design Project 266 #GDP266 & As You See It 238

What a great sketch and combined with the colour combo below, I came up with a pretty card.

Here is what I came up with.

It is a bit hard to tell in the picture but the black layer on this card is actually black in the top left hand corner and it fades down to Basic Grey. The top has been sprayed with some of the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and run through the Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine with the Subtle folder.

The very back has been stamped with the flower stamp to give it a bit more depth. This is actually the first time I have inked up the flower from the Forever Blossoms stamps.

          • Stamps: Forever Blossoms and a sneak peek of a new set called Enjoy the Moment (coming soon)
          • Ink: Petal Pink, Basic Grey, Memento and Versamark
          • Card: Whisper White, Petal Pink, Basic Black and Peony Garden DSP
          • Tools: Cherry Blossom Dies & Subtle Embossing Folder with a Cut Stampin' Emboss Machine, Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint in a spritzer bottle, Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Smokey Slate Stampin' Blends, Foam Rollers, White Embossing Powder with a heat tool
          • Embellishments: Dimensionals & Elegant Faceted Gems
          • GDP266

          Just Add Ink 529 #JAI529

          Just Add Ink Challenge #529

This weeks challenge is a colour challenge

I took these colours along to a crafting retreat weekend to come up with something. I didn't even look at what the design team had made and I came up with this card.

Sadly I lost my mum to terminal lung cancer two weeks ago and I have struggled as we talked on the phone or text every day. I am going to miss her so badly and my heart is broken into a million pieces.
While she was in hospice there was a lovely volunteer lady named Jan who I sobbed to, the day mum was to pass away. I have made her this card to say thankyou for being so kind and compassionate to me.

I used the silver foil and run the lace die through the Stampin' Emboss machine without the second plate and I placed a rubber mat under the die so it would only leave the impression rather than cut through.
The Magenta Madness and Misty Moonlight I have stamped off to get the depth of the colours in the flowers and leaves.

          • Stamps: All Things Fabulous and Dragonfly Garden (coming soon)
          • Ink: - Magenta Madness and Misty Moonlight
          • Card: Whisper White, Magenta Madness, Misty Moonlight and Silver Foil
          • Tools: Fabulous Florals and Stitched So Sweetly Dies as well as Subtle Embossing Folder with a Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine
          • Embellishments:  Dimensionals

I saw this sketch this week and I was already playing with my Whale Suite so I thought I could use it here as well.

          It came up really cute.

A little bit of fussy cutting for the turtle from the DSP and a mask made with the reed die from Smooth Sailing along with a little shimmery embossing paste has really set this card off.

          • Stamps: Zany Zebras
          • Ink: Versamark
          • Card: Whisper White, Basic Black, Pretty Peacock and Whale of a Time DSP
          • Tools: Stitched Triangle and Smooth Sailing Dies with a Die Cutting Machine, White embossing powder and a heat tool and Shimmery White Embossing Paste with Pool Party re-inker
          • Embellishments: Dimensionals

          CAS Colours and Sketches 394

CAS Colours and Sketches this week is a nice simple sketch challenge.

I made a mistake on a card over the weekend and I couldn't bare to waste the cardstock so I turned it into this Christmas Card.

I had made a background with Shimmery Embossing Paste mixed with Pretty Peacock reinker and didn't like it at all so I took the mini Christmas tree from the Home Together Dies and cut out the 9 background trees for this card.

A nice clean and simple card.

          • Stampset: Snowman Season
          • Ink: Pretty Peacock
          • Card: Whisper White, Pretty Peacock & Vellum
          • Tools: Home Together Dies with a Die Cutting Machine and Shimmer Embossing Paste with Pretty Peacock re-inker
          • Embellishments:  Dimensionals

            Freshly Made Sketches 459 #FMS459

This week I found a great sketch with Freshly Made Sketches and as I was away on a craft retreat weekend I made the card below with the sketch.

I thought about it quite a bit and thought that the two triangle panels on this sketch could be the opening on the card.

Fully Open with the panel to write on inside.

I came up with this idea quite quickly and laid it all out on top of the card base. It just worked, sometimes things just look good together but it helps when there is gorgeous DSP to work with.

            • Stampset: Zany Zebras
            • Ink: Versamark
            • Card: Whisper White, Pacific Point and Whale of a Time DSP
            • Tools: Smooth Sailing Dies with a Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine & White Embossing Powder with a Heat tool
            • Embellishments:  Dimensionals
